马太福音 16:13-16 耶稣到了凯撒利亚·腓立比的境内，就问门徒说：“人说我（有古卷没有我字）－人子是谁？” 他们说：“有人说是施洗的约翰；有人说是以利亚；又有人说是耶利米或是先知里的一位。” 耶稣说：“你们说我是谁？” 西门·彼得回答说：“你是基督，是永生 神的儿子。”
彼得回答对了这个问题。你可以想象耶稣的名字在当时是怎样的被人们所津津乐道。那时没有福克斯电台或CNN来报道人们的观点和看法。这个消息只有在城镇广场和社区集会上被人们分享和讨论。“人说人子是谁?”顺便说一句，这是耶稣给自己取的最喜欢的名字。
关于耶稣是谁的这个问题，人们有各种各样的观点，比如，有人说是施洗的约翰复活了，还有人说是某个先知的转世。但是彼得回答对了。他说，你是基督，是永生神的儿子。人子是上帝的儿子，彼得说的完全正确。他尽可能地去理解，耶稣既是完全的神，又是一个完全的人。
当有人问你耶稣是谁时，你回答对了吗？你承认耶稣既是真神，又是真人，是世界的救主吗？如果你承认，那不是因为你是通过自己的头脑想明白的，而是上帝通过他的话语对你启示出来的。今天很感恩你能相信这一点。不是每个人都能相信。这意味着，你在生命中有一个目的，就是要与那些不认识耶稣的人分享这宝贵的福音。
祷告：主耶稣，你是基督，是永生神的儿子，你是我的救主！感谢你藉着你的话语，藉着圣灵的工作，向我显明这奥秘。我祈祷，我将永远相信这一认信，我要自由地向世界宣告我通过信心所明白的一切。奉主耶稣基督的名求。阿们！
Matthew 16:13-16: When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” 14 They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” 16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Peter raised his hand and got the answer right. You can imagine how Jesus’ name must have been on the tongues of lots of people. Back then there was no FOX or CNN to report people’s opinions. The news was shared and discussed in the town squares and in neighborhood gatherings. “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” That, by the way, was the favorite name that Jesus used for himself.
There were all kinds of opinions about Jesus, like being John the Baptist come back to life or the reincarnation of one of the prophets. But Peter got it right. “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” The Son of Man is the Son of God. Peter got it right. He understood, as far as it is possible to understand, that Jesus was both true God and true man in one person.
When someone asks you who Jesus is, do you get the answer right? Do you confess that Jesus is both true God and true man and the Savior of the world? If you believe this, then it isn’t because you figured it out in your head, but because God has revealed this to you through the Word. Be thankful today that you believe this. Not everyone does. Which means you have a purpose in life – to share the gospel of Jesus with those who do not know him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are the Christ, the Son of the living God, and you are my Savior! Thank you for revealing this to me through your Word and through the working of the Holy Spirit. I pray that I will always be faithful to this confession, and that what I know by faith, I will freely proclaim to the world. Amen.
