我在这里选择使用EHV(Evangelical Heritage Version)版本代替新国际2011版本。

Hebrews 2:  For God did not place the coming world, about which we are speaking, under the control of angels. 6 But there is a place where someone has testified: What is man that you remember him, or the Son of Man that you look after him? 7 You made him lower than the angels for a little while. You crowned him with glory and honor. 8  You put everything in subjection under his feet. Indeed, in putting everything in subjection to him, God left nothing that is not in subjection to him. At the present time, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. 9 But we look to Jesus (the one who was made lower than the angels for a little while, so that by God’s grace he might taste death for everyone), now crowned with glory and honor, because he suffered death. (EHV)

I chose to use the EHV version here instead of NIV 2011.  NIV 2011 uses “mankind” instead of “man,” which would not make you think that Psalm 2 is speaking of the Messiah, the Christ. But in reading Psalm 2 it is obvious that the reference is to the Messiah. These verses describe beautifully the coming of the Son of God, taking human flesh, being made a little lower than the angels. He did this so that he could taste death for everyone, and now he is crowned with glory and honor, because he suffered death of the sins of the world.

It never ceases to amaze me how God chose to save us, not through his eternal power, but by becoming one of us and dying in our place!  What was it like for the Son of God to take human flesh?  What was it like for the eternally holy Son of God to be tempted as we are tempted so that he could the victory for all of us? What was it like for the holy Son of God to carry the shame of my sin in his flesh so that I could stand before God clothed in his righteousness?

We should think of these things often because it is through the life and death of Jesus that we find peace with God. We should think of this often, because then in our lives we will give him the glory that he deserves.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, thank you for coming down from heaven and making yourself one of us!  I do not have a God who does not understand my weaknesses, but one who was tempted in every way that I have been tempted. Only, you remained perfect so that you could be the perfect atonement for my sin.  Let me life today honor you and give you glory!  Amen.
