马太福音 14:34-36 他们过了海,来到革尼撒勒地方。 那里的人一认出是耶稣,就打发人到周围地方去,把所有的病人带到他那里, 只求耶稣准他们摸他的衣裳繸子;摸着的人就都好了。

“妈妈说会有这样的日子,”在一首老摇滚歌曲的歌词中这样写道。对于耶稣来说,整个第14章似乎也是他最长的一天,这件事始于希律王谋杀了他的堂兄约翰的消息。然后是耶稣一整天的医治病患,教导和喂养了五千人。如果你曾经有过给一大群人授课的经历,你就会知道所消耗的精力要比教导脚下的几个门徒要多得多。接下来是耶稣在夜晚祷告,在水面上行走,在暴风中平静风浪。最后,当他们过了湖的时候,已经是新的一天了。

人们得知耶稣来了,都纷纷把他们的病人送到耶稣那里去寻求医治。一位圣经注释者称这是“耶稣最长的一天”, 这说法不见得对,也许最长的可能是灈足星期四和耶稣受难日。

这段信息的关键是告诉我们,耶稣在他的生命中也有那样的日子。那么,当我们有那些日子的时候会发生什么呢? 我们会变得暴躁易怒,与人打交道也变得冷漠,我们在内心深处退缩了,对周围人的需要也漠不关心。当孩子们知道他们的爸爸度过了漫长的一天,而且刚刚开完三个小时的会议回家时,他们会蹑手蹑脚地在房子周围走动。

但耶稣不是那样,他是我们的完美生命的代替者,他必须要筋疲力尽,他治愈了病人,一次又一次的教导众人。他考虑的是别人而不是自己。他从不以冒犯或伤害他人的方式表现他的疲倦和软弱。这就是我的救主,我不想要任何其他的救主,除了曾经经历过我一切软弱与试探的这一位。

祷告:主耶稣,感谢你担起生命的重担,背负我们一切的软弱!不仅如此,作为我们完美的兄弟,完美的老师,完美的邻舍,完美的朋友,完美的上帝之子。你救赎了我,你使我早上起来能够迎接新的一天的挑战,使我晚上能够安稳入眠,因为我知道我的罪已被赦免。奉主耶稣基督的名求。阿门!

Matthew 14:34-36 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”  34 When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36 and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.

“Mama said there’d be days like this” says the lyrics of an old rock song. For Jesus it began with the news that Herod murdered his cousin, John. Then there was a whole day of healing and teaching and feeding the five thousand. If you have ever taught a large crowd, you know that you expend more energy than if it’s just a few disciples at your feet. Then a night of prayer, walking on the water and stilling a storm. Finally, by the time they crossed the lake, it was a new day and the crowds brought their sick to Jesus. One commentator called it “Jesus’ longest day.” Well, maybe not the longest. That might have been Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.

 The point is that Jesus had those days in his life, too. And what happens when we have those days? We get cranky and short with people. We withdraw within ourselves. We become unaware of the needs of those around us. Children tiptoe around the house when they know that dad has had a long day and just home from a three hour council meeting!

 Not Jesus. Not our perfect Savior who live his life as our perfect substitute. He had to be exhausted, but he healed the sick and taught the people all over again. He thought of others instead of himself. He never showed his tiredness in ways that offended or hurt others.  That’s my Savior and I wouldn’t want any other Savior than one who had walked in my shoes.

 Prayer:  Lord Jesus, thank you for taking on the burdens of life and walking in our shoes! And not only that, but for doing so perfectly – as the perfect brother, the perfect teacher, the perfect neighbor, the perfect friend, the perfect Son of God.  You are my salvation and you give me a reason to rise in the morning to meet the challenges of a new day and to sleep at peace at night, knowing my sins are forgiven. Amen.

马太福音15:1-9 法利赛人

马太福音15:1-9:1那时,有法利赛人和文士从耶路撒冷来见耶稣,说:2“你的门徒为甚么犯古人的遗传呢?因为吃饭的时候,他们不洗手。”3耶稣回答说:“你们为甚么因着你们的遗传,犯神的诫命呢?4神说:‘当孝敬父母’,又说:‘咒骂父母的、必治死他。’5你们倒说:‘无论何人对父母说,我所当奉给你的,已经作了供献6他就可以不孝敬父母。这就是你们借着遗传废了神的诫命。7假冒为善的人哪!以赛亚指着你们说的预言是不错的.他说:8‘这百姓用嘴唇尊敬我,心却远离我,9他们将人的吩咐当作道理教导人,所以拜我也是枉然。’”

我们再次看到法利赛人律法主义和自视清高态度的一个范例。为什么圣经经常向我们指出这点?这是因为我们很容易陷入这种思维方式。法利赛人总是想方设法指出别人的不足,而这会让他们自我感觉良好。我们是否也曾这样行?法利赛人设法为自己的罪行找借口。在这里他们为不赡养父母的行为辩护,因为他们把钱捐给教会了。我们是否同样为自己的行为辩护,并为这些行为找借口?他们高举传统,却超越了上帝的话语。我们的某些行为是否仅仅因为我们习以为常,然后去责备别人没能这样做?法利赛人喜欢冗长的祷告、愁眉苦脸和禁食,但他的心根本游离在外。我们祷告的时候是否也心不在焉?我们唱赞美诗的时候是否根本不知道歌词在说些什么?

因为我的老我、罪性,我知道我可能和法利赛人一样。但因为圣灵在我里面造就的新我,我确实相信。我信的不是我自己,或我的好行为,或我遵守了律法和传统。我只信耶稣,唯独信耶稣。靠着恩典,唯独靠着恩典,我不是一个法利赛人!

祷告:亲爱的耶稣,当我对别人吹毛求疵的时候,当我对自己的好行为夸口的时候,或者当我假装自己比别人强的时候,请让我悔改。请赐给我一颗谦卑忍耐的心,让我唯独在你里面找到盼望和拯救。阿们!

Matthew 15

Matthew 15: 1-9: Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked, 2 “Why do your disciples break the tradition of the elders? They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”  3 Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.  5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you: 8 “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 9 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules.’”

Once again we see an example of the legalistic and self-righteous attitudes of the Pharisees. Why does Scripture point this out to us so often? Because it is so easy to fall into that way of thinking. The Pharisee always finds a way to point out the failures of others because it makes him look good in his own eyes.  Do we do that? The Pharisee finds a way to excuse his sin. In this case, they justified not supporting their parents because they gave their money to the church. Do we justify our actions and make excuses for them?  They hold up traditions higher than God’s Word. Do we do things because we’ve always done them that way and fault others for not doing it?  The Pharisee loved long prayers and sad faces and fasting, but his heart was not in it. Do we pray without our hearts, or sing without even knowing what we are saying?

In my sinful nature, I know I can be like the Pharisee. But in the new self which the Holy Spirit created in me, I do believe.  I do not believe in myself or my good works or in my keeping the laws and traditions. I believe only in Jesus. I trust in him alone.  By grace and by grace alone I am not a Pharisee!

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, call me to repentance when I am critical of others, or when I boast in my good works, or when I pretend to be better than others. Give me a humble heart, a penitent heart, that finds hope and my salvation in you alone.  Amen.
