希伯来书8:10-13：主又说：“那些日子以后，我与以色列家所立的约乃是这样：我要将我的律法放在他们里面，写在他们心上；我要作他们的神，他们要作我的子民。他们不用各人教导自己的乡邻和自己的弟兄说：你该认识主，因为他们从最小的到至大的，都必认识我。我要宽恕他们的不义，不再记念他们的罪愆。”既说新约，就以前约为旧了；但那渐旧渐衰的，就必快归无有了。
当弥赛亚到来并带给神的子民新约的时候，这新约在什么方面最令你印象深刻呢？新约一个最显著的特质是它的单向性。新约中最重要的事实是上帝宽恕了我们的不义，也不再纪念我们的罪愆。你也许听到人们说：“我会原谅你，但我无法忘记你对我做过的事情。” 当人们以这种方式宽恕别人时，如果这个人再次冒犯，他们会重新提起旧的罪。上帝没有那样做。上帝说他不再纪念我们的罪。他不会再提起旧的罪，然后用这些罪来指责我们。所以他在耶稣里面已经完全宽恕了我们。
新约的特质还不仅如此，还有更多关于新约的内容。上帝不仅赦免了我们的罪，他还用奇妙的方式改变了我们的心。他将律法写在了我们的心里。作为一个新我，我们知道什么是对的，什么是错的。不仅如此，他还赐给我们力量来胜过我们生活中罪的牵引。不要说你无法抵抗罪！上帝让你成为他的儿女，洗净了你的罪，并帮助你脱离罪的权势。
最后，上帝说我们会认识他。他籍着耶稣，他的独生子向我们显明了他自己。耶稣是他荣耀的光辉，也是他本体的真像。认识基督就是认识上帝！当耶稣再来，我们必永远被成全，那时我们就能完全体会认识上帝、做他的子民是什么意思。（启示录21:3）
祷告：主耶稣，你亲自来拯救我们脱离我们的罪。你甚至和我们立约，应许你作我们的神，我们作你的子民。当我为每日犯下的罪背负重担的时候，请让我记得我的罪已经完全被赦免了，甚至不被纪念了。我如此祷告是奉你的名，阿们。
Hebrews 8: 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
What strikes you about the New Covenant which the Messiah would bring to God’s people when he came? The most striking feature of it is its one-sidedness. The bottom line of the New Covenant is that God will forgive our wickedness and remember our sins no more. You may have heard people say, “I will forgive you, but I cannot forget what you’ve done.” When people forgive in that way, if ever the person offends again, they will bring up the old sins all over again. God doesn’t do that. God says that he will remember our sins no more. He will never bring them up again and use them to accuse us. So completely he has forgiven us in Jesus!
And there is more about this New Covenant. God not only forgives our sins, he also changes our hearts in a wonderful way. He writes his laws in our hearts so that in our new man, we know what is right and wrong. Even more than that, he gives us power over the pull of sin in our lives. Don’t say that you cannot resist sin! God has made you his own and he has cleansed you from the guilt and the power of your sin!
Last, God says that we will know him. He has revealed himself to us in Jesus, his Son, who is the radiance of his glory and the exact representation of his being. To know Christ is to know God! And when Jesus comes and we are made perfect forever, we will experience fully what it means to know God and to be his people (Revelation 21:3).
Prayer: Lord Jesus, you took it in your hands to rescue us from our sins. You even made a covenant with us, promising that you will be our God and we will be your people. When I feel burdened by the sins which I commit daily, then remind me that my sins are completely forgiven and not even remembered. I ask this in your name. Amen.
