哥林多前书：5：9-11：9我先前写信给你们说：不可与淫乱的人相交。10此话不是指这世上一概行淫乱的，或贪婪的、勒索的，或拜偶像的；若是这样，你们除非离开世界方可。11但如今我写信给你们说：若有称为弟兄是行淫乱的、或贪婪的、或拜偶像的、或辱骂的、或醉酒的、或勒索的，这样的人不可与他相交，就是与他吃饭都不可。
建造修道院的目的是为了让人们将自己与世界隔绝。当然，保罗并没有提倡我们那样做。我们每天都会在学校、工作场所或我们的社区里与世人和不信的人打交道。如果我们打算为福音做见证，我们就必须和他们交往，否则他们如何才能从我们身上看到基督并听到福音的好消息呢？
但是我们该如何对待我们中间那些不悔改的罪人呢？他们自称为基督徒，但他们的所作所为却表现出他们根本不为罪悔改，表现得似乎不是信徒。保罗说：“不要与他们相交。”但如果是我的儿子或女儿我该怎么办？不让他们进我的家门？和他们断绝关系？我相信保罗的意思是，我们必须通过我们的言行明白无误地表示，我们并不容忍他们的罪和他们的不信。
这听上去有些严厉，而且经常有人指责我们过于严厉，缺乏爱心。我们的言行应该明确表明，我们不宽恕他们不悔改的罪，而他们也应该明白，我们是爱他们的，耶稣是爱他们的，我们愿意他们回转到耶稣这里来。这些事情做起来很难，尤其是当我们深爱的人牵扯其中的时候。祈求上帝赐给我们一颗温柔又明辨是非的心。要记住，你们里面有基督的心！
祷告：主耶稣，在这世上我只求拥有一颗和你一样的爱心，去寻求和拯救（灵魂）失丧的人。请引导我，在该坚定的时候坚定，在该忍耐的时候忍耐，在该温柔的时候温柔。我如此祈求是奉你的名。阿们。
1 Corinthians 5: 9 I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people— 10 not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters. In that case you would have to leave this world. 11 But now I am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler. Do not even eat with such people. (EHV)
Monasteries were built so that people could shut themselves off from the world. Paul is not advocating that we do that. We will rub shoulders with worldly people and unbelievers every day at school or work or in our neighborhoods. If we are to witness to the gospel, we have to associate with the people of this world. How else will they see Christ in us and hear the gospel story?
But how should we treat the impenitent sinners among us, who want to call themselves Christians, but who have shown that they are impenitent and unbelievers? Pauls says, “Don’t associate with them.” What if that is my son or daughter? Would I not let them into my home? Would I disown them? I believe what Paul is saying is that we have to make it perfectly clear by our words and actions that we do not condone their sin and their unbelief.
That sounds harsh and we will often be accused of being harsh and unloving. Our words and actions should make it clear that we do not condone impenitent sin, and they should also make it clear that we love them, that Jesus loves them, and that we want them to return to Jesus. These things are hard to do, especially when loved ones are concerned. Pray for a gentle and discerning heart. And remember, that you have the mind of Christ in you!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I want more than anything to have your loving heart that always wants to seek and to save the lost! Show me how to be firm when firmness is needed, patient, when patience is need, and gentle when gentleness is needed. I ask this in your name. Amen.
