一起读经 | 哥林多前书 10章31-33节 凡事为荣耀神而行

哥林多前书：10：31-33: 31所以，你们或吃或喝，无论作什么，都要为荣耀神而行。32不拘是犹太人，是希利尼人，是神的教会，你们都不要使他跌倒；33就好像我凡事都叫众人喜欢，不求自己的益处，只求众人的益处，叫他们得救。         

无论做什么都要为荣耀神而行，这句话是什么意思？这意味着当人们看到你做的事情，他们在你身上藉着你做的事看到了上帝。通过你的言行举止和态度，你让上帝在别人眼中看起来是良善的。以下是一些具体的例子：

  • 你注意到有人受到伤害，你会用同情和怜悯来回应。
  • 你抛弃自己的喜好很厌恶，愿意宽容那些和你观点不一致的人
  • 你愿意将上帝赐给你的一切，分享给那些不如你幸运的人，满足他们的需求
  • 你使用自己的恩赐和能力，归荣耀给上帝，而不是将这些荣誉归给自己。
  • 教会来了新成员，你不辞辛劳的接待他，让他感觉像到家一样。
  • 你更少地考虑自己，更多地考虑别人并为他们祷告。

显然，这个单子可以无限制地延伸。它包含了我们生活的方方面面：饮食、工作、娱乐。今天花点时间想想这个问题。我要做的事，怎样才能荣耀神呢?  

祷告：天父，因为你让我成为了你的孩子，无论我的生活好与坏，我都将永远思想你。我祷告不论我说什么做什么，都能让别人感受到这是你在做工。愿荣耀颂赞永远归于耶稣基督！阿们。

1 Corinthians 10: 31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. 32 Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— 33 even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved. (EHV)

What does it mean to do everything to the glory of God? It means that when people see what you are doing, they see God in you and through you. You make God look good by your words and attitudes and actions.  Here are some examples.

  • When you notice that someone is hurting and your respond with compassion.
  • When you look outside your likes and dislikes and make room in your life for people who are different than you are.
  • When you are willing to share from what God has given you to meet the needs of those who are less fortunate.
  • When you use your talents and abilities to give praise to God instead of collecting accolades for yourself.
  • When you go out of your way to make that new person in church feel like a family member.
  • When you think about yourself less and think and pray about others more.

        Obviously, the list could go on forever. It encompasses our eating and drinking and working and playing. Spend some time today thinking about this. The task I am about to do, how can I do that to God’s glory?          

Prayer:   Father, because you made me your child, my life will always reflect on you, whether good or bad. I pray that whatever I say or do will make people feel the same way about you that I do. To you be glory and praise forever in Christ Jesus! Amen.
