哥林多前书15：35-41: 35或有人问：“死人怎样复活，带着什么身体来呢？”36无知的人哪，你所种的，若不死，就不能生！37并且你所种的，不是那将来的形体，不过是子粒，即如麦子，或是别样的谷。38但神随自己的意思给它一个形体，并叫各等子粒各有自己的形体。39凡肉体各有不同：人是一样，兽又是一样，鸟又是一样，鱼又是一样。40有天上的形体，也有地上的形体。但天上形体的荣光是一样，地上形体的荣光又是一样。41日有日的荣光，月有月的荣光，星有星的荣光；这星和那星的荣光也有分别。
彼得在一封书信里曾经提到，保罗的文字有时候很难理解。我觉得哥林多前书15章的这段文字就是如此。我认为保罗在这里所说的意思很明确。当时哥林多有的信徒仍然认为，以我们现有的身体，是不可能在天堂里拥有永恒生命的。他们嘲笑那种牙齿永不腐烂，骨头永远也不折断的想法。今生这样一个日渐衰残的身体，怎么可能永葆青春呢？撒都该人想要证明复活并不存在，于是他们提出一个假定性问题来反驳死人复活（路加福音20章）。“如果一个妇人一连嫁了七个弟兄，可他们都死了。当复活的时候，她是哪一个的妻子呢？”耶稣向他们指出复活的生命是不一样的，并不受今生这个世界规则的束缚。
保罗在今天的经文里也说了类似的话。他说就好像我们在地上播下了种子。当种子死后，它会发芽生长成为一株植物，会产生出一种完全不同的生命。我们很难想象复活后我们的身体会是什么样子，因为我们今生这个必死的身体正在日渐衰残。我们不必现在就知道所有问题的答案。即使我们知道答案，恐怕我们也无法理解。我们只需知道我们的身体会复活，并且永远和耶稣及众圣徒在一起，这就够了。人们经常问我这个问题：“天堂是什么样子的？”我能告诉他们的是天堂不会再有罪恶、苦难和疼痛。至于那些细节，我只能告诉他们，那等着他们自己去发现。感谢上帝，藉着对耶稣的信心，我们能够真实地想象我们将来一定会在那里！ 祷告：主耶稣，关于天堂和复活，我不必现在就知道所有问题的答案。只要知道我一定能去那里，藉着相信你，我一定能和你面对面，这就够了。所以，主耶稣，请你快来！阿们。
1 Corinthians 15: 35 But someone will object, “How can it be that the dead are raised? With what kind of body are they going to come?” 36 You are being foolish. What you sow is not made alive unless it dies. 37 And what you sow is not the body that will be, but a bare seed, perhaps of wheat or some other grain. 38 But God gives it a body of the kind he wanted it to have, and to each of the seeds he gives its own body. 39 Flesh is not all the same kind. Instead, people have one kind of flesh, animals have another kind, birds another, and fish yet another. 40 There are also celestial bodies and bodies on earth, but the glory of the celestial bodies differs from that of the bodies on earth. 41 There is one glory of the sun, another of the moon, and another of the stars; in fact, one star differs from another in glory (E.HV)
Peter wrote in one of his letters that Paul sometimes wrote things that were hard to understand. I find this section of 1 Corinthians 15 one of those sections. But what I think that Paul is saying is simply this. People still use the argument that eternal life in heaven could not be possible with the bodies that we have. They laugh at the idea of having teeth that never decay or bones that never become brittle. How can this body that is wearing out last forever? The Sadducees wanted to disprove the resurrection (Luke 23) by posing a theoretical question. “What if a woman were married seven times, and all seven died? Which one would she be married to in the resurrection?” And Jesus pointed out to them that life in the resurrection is different and not bound to the same rules we have here.
Paul is saying something similar. He says that it’s like the seed that we plant into the ground. When it dies, it gives life to a plant that is entirely different. It’s hard for us to imagine what our bodies will be like in the resurrection as long as we are in this mortal body that is wasting away. We don’t have to have all the answers now. Even if we did, we probably wouldn’t comprehend them. It’s enough for us to know that our bodies will be raised, and that we will be with Jesus and with all the saints forever. People have often asked me the question, “What will heaven be like?” I can tell them there will be no more sin or suffering or pain. But when it comes to the details, I tell them we’ll just have to wait to find out. Thanks be to God, by faith in Jesus, we can actually imagine that we will be there!
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I don’t have to have all the answers about heaven and the resurrection. It is enough to know that I will be there, by faith in you alone, and that I will see you face to face. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Amen.
