•21耶稣坐船又渡到那边去，就有许多人到他那里聚集，他正在海边上。22有一个管会堂的人，名叫睚鲁，来见耶稣，就俯伏在他脚前，23再三地求他说：“我的小女儿快要死了，求你去按手在她身上，使她痊愈，得以活了。”24耶稣就和他同去。
当人们遭遇死亡时，我会去服事他们，在我的事工生涯中，我有很多次这样的经历。一个九岁的孩子死于白血病。一个52岁的男人在钓鱼时淹死了。一个男人在散步的时候被一辆卡车撞死了，留下他残疾的妻子一个人。还有一名女性，她的丈夫在他们结婚75周年纪念日后不久去世了。我之所以提到最后一个，是因为我们认为前三个例子比最后一个更像是悲剧。但每个人的死亡都是罪的咒诅带来的悲惨结果，每个人的死亡都会让另一些人感到悲伤孤独。当我在这些人悲痛的时候服事他们时，我在情感上与他们感同身受，虽然我无法达到他们那样的程度。但我忍不住感到悲伤。不是替他们感到悲伤，而和他们一同悲伤。
我们已经知道了这个故事的结局。小女孩死了，耶稣让她复活了。但我在这个故事中看到的那位救主，他不是替睚鲁感到悲伤，而是和睚鲁一起悲伤。睚鲁的小女儿快要死了。耶稣就和他同去。在生命中那些可怕的时刻，耶稣总是与你同在。他是一位“多受痛苦，常经忧患”的救主(以赛亚书53:3)。他服侍那些生病的人，那些遭受苦难的人，他十分清楚这个被罪所咒诅的世界发生的各种生活悲剧。绝不要认为耶稣会在你悲伤的时候忽视你!
在古代，甚至远在一百年前，许多儿童死于疾病，许多疾病在今天都是可以治疗的简单疾病。当你参观一个古老的墓地，你会看到一些夫妇的坟墓，有两个或三个孩子葬在他们旁边。在我家乡的教堂，墓地里有一个坟墓，有七个孩子和他们的父母一起埋葬。他们中没有一个活过五岁。我们应该感谢我们的现代医学挽救了许多孩子的生命。但我们无法治愈所有的疾病，我们无法治愈死亡。在面临死亡的时候，只有耶稣能给我们希望，给我们复活进入永生的希望。
祷告:主耶稣啊，感谢你在我悲伤的时候，在我遭遇生命悲剧的时候服事我。感谢你给了我复活得永生的盼望。阿们。
Mark 5:21-24: When Jesus had again crossed over by boat to the other side of the lake, a large crowd gathered around him while he was by the lake. 22 Then one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came, and when he saw Jesus, he fell at his feet. 23 He pleaded earnestly with him, “My little daughter is dying. Please come and put your hands on her so that she will be healed and live.” 24 So Jesus went with him. (NIV)
In my ministry I have had many opportunities to minister to people in times of death. A nine year old who died of leukemia. A fifty-two year old man who drowned when he was fishing. A man who took a walk and was run over by a truck, leaving his invalid wife alone. And a woman whose husband died shortly after their seventy-fifth wedding anniversary. I mention the last because we would look at the first three examples as tragedies more than the last. But isn’t every death the tragic result of sin’s curse? Doesn’t every death leave someone alone? As I ministered to these people in their time of grief and sorrow, I shared their loss emotionally. Certainly not to the degree that they did. But I couldn’t help feeling sorry with them. Not for them, but with them.
We already know how this story ends, which we will get to in a day or so. The little girl dies and Jesus raises her to life. But what I see in this story is a Savior who feels sorry, not for the man, but with the man. His little girl was dying. “So Jesus went with him.” Jesus is always with you in those terrible moments in life. He is a Savior who is “a man of suffering, and familiar with pain” (Isaiah 53:3). He ministered to the sick and the suffering and became familiar with the tragedies of life in this sin-cursed world. Do not think for a moment that Jesus will neglect you in your times of sorrow!
In ancient times, and even as far back as a hundred years ago, many children died of simple illnesses that we can treat today. Visit an old cemetery and see the graves of couples who have two or three children buried next to them. At my home church in Ixonia, there is a grave at the cemetery with seven children buried with their parents. None of them lived past five years of age. We can be thankful for our modern medicine that saves the lives of many children. But we cannot cure them all, and we cannot cure death. Only Jesus can give us hope in the face of death, the hope of the resurrection to eternal life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for ministering to me in my times of sorrow and in all the tragedies of this life. Thank you, most of all, for giving me the hope of the resurrection to eternal life. Amen.
