2过了六天，耶稣带着彼得、雅各、约翰暗暗地上了高山，就在他们面前变了形像：3衣服放光，极其洁白，地上漂布的，没有一个能漂得那样白。4忽然，有以利亚同摩西向他们显现，并且和耶稣说话。
耶稣登山变像的时刻当然是为我们准备的。耶稣让他最信任的三个门徒在那里见证这一切。在彼得后书中，使徒彼得回顾了这个时刻，并说在他去世后，也希望人们记住这些事。马可一定从彼得那里得到了关于这件事的更多信息。
耶稣登山变像，即是为我们预备的，也是为耶稣预备的，耶稣即将踏上最后一次去耶路撒冷的旅程，无论遇到什么抵挡和试探，他不能失败。我们的拯救只有他才能完成。他不能失败。

Mark 9:2-4: After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. 4 And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. This moment of transfiguration was certainly meant for us. Jesus made sure that his three most trusted disciples were there to witness it. In Peter’s second epistle he reflects on this moment and says he would make sure that after he was gone there would be a record. It is widely understood that Mark got much of his information for his gospel from Peter.
This event was for us, but it was also for Jesus, too. He was about to make his last journey to Jerusalem. It was like being up to bat in the bottom of the ninth with two outs and the bases loaded with your team behind by three runs. He could not afford to fail. Our salvation rested on his shoulders alone. He could not fail.
So, his heavenly Father gave him strength for what lay ahead. Moses and Elijah were there on the mountain to talk with him. We don’t know the essence of their conversation, but I imagine it to be a pep talk for our divine warrior for his greatest moment. The Father spoke. “This is my Son, whom I love.” When Jesus was experiencing God’s wrath on the cross, I can imagine him reflecting on these words from heaven. Psalm 22 records that conversation in Jesus’ heart as he describes his ordeal of being forsaken by God and his trust in his heavenly Father at the same time.
And just as Jesus could remember his transfiguration during his disfiguration on the cross, so must we. It was God’s perfect Son they crucified. The eternal Son of God experienced the infamy of the cross for my sins.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, eternal Son of God, loved by the Father, never let me forget what you suffered for me. Let it fill my heart with confidence in my salvation and motivate me for godly living. Amen.
