•17耶稣出来行路的时候，有一个人跑来，跪在他面前，问他说：“良善的夫子，我当作什么事，才可以承受永生？”18耶稣对他说：“你为什么称我是良善的？除了 神一位之外，再没有良善的。19诫命你是晓得的：不可杀人，不可奸淫，不可偷盗，不可作假见证，不可亏负人，当孝敬父母。”20他对耶稣说：“夫子，这一切我从小都遵守了。”21耶稣看着他，就爱他，对他说：“你还缺少一件，去变卖你所有的分给穷人，就必有财宝在天上，你还要来跟从我。”22他听见这话，脸上就变了色，忧忧愁愁地走了，因为他的产业很多。
今天这个故事值得写一篇讲道，而不是简短的灵修。今天这段经文有很多值得我们默想的地方。经文里年轻人认为他遵守了所有的诫命。人很容易自己欺骗自己!为让他清醒认识自己的问题，耶稣挑战他，吩咐他放弃一切来跟从自己，从而指出他的财富就是他所拜的偶像。这对今天的我们来说也一样!这个年轻人忧忧愁愁地走开了。这就是拜偶像。偶像就是你无法舍弃的东西。偶像就是当你无事可做时一直在想的东西。
但今天早上最吸引我的是这句话，”耶稣看着他，就爱他”。这个年轻人自认为完美的遵守一切诫命，耶稣仍然爱他。这样一个爱自己的财富胜过爱上帝的人，耶稣仍然爱他。这就是耶稣。他是救主，他爱那些不可爱的人。他爱我，也爱你。“惟有基督在我们还作罪人的时候为我们死， 神的爱就在此向我们显明了”(罗马书5:8)。
我写这篇灵修的时候正逢感恩节，我为生活的一切感谢神，我的家人，尤其是我的配偶，为了桌上的食物，为了住的房子，为了工作，为抚养我长大的父母，为好的政府……这些都很好，但这些都不能像耶稣那样俘获我的心。为了跟随他，我愿意舍弃生命里的一切财富和快乐。
祷告:主耶稣，你永远是我最大的财宝。我要永远称谢你的名!感谢你在我生命的每一刻都充满慈爱与良善。阿们。
Mark 10:17-22: As Jesus started on his way, a man ran up to him and fell on his knees before him. “Good teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” 18 “Why do you call me good?” Jesus answered. “No one is good—except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, you shall not defraud, honor your father and mother.’” 20 “Teacher,” he declared, “all these I have kept since I was a boy.” 21 Jesus looked at him and loved him. “One thing you lack,” he said. “Go, sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” 22 At this the man’s face fell. He went away sad, because he had great wealth. (NIV)
This story deserves a sermon and not a short devotion. There are so many things we could meditate on today. The young man thought he had kept all the commandments. How easy it is to deceive ourselves! Jesus challenges him to give everything away, and thereby points out his idolatry of riches. What a danger that is to us in our country! He walked away sad. That’s what idolatry is. It is whatever you can’t walk away from. It is whatever you think about when you don’t have something to think about.
But what captures my heart this morning is this sentence. “Jesus looked at him and loved him.” He loved the man who thought he was perfect. He loved the man who loved his riches more than God. That’s who Jesus is. He is a Savior who loves the unlovable. He loves me, and he loves you. “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:6).
I am writing this on Thanksgiving Day. I am thankful for my family and especially my spouse. For the food on our table. For the roof over my head. For work that is a joy to do. For parents who faithfully raised me. For good government. Yes, in spite of what we hear, it is good. But none of these things can ever capture my heart the way that Jesus does. I will walk away from all life’s treasures and pleasures so that I may follow him.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, you are and always will be my greatest treasure. I will praise your name forever! Thank you for all your loving kindness in every corner of my life. Amen.
