•1耶稣和门徒将近耶路撒冷，到了伯法其和伯大尼，在橄榄山那里，耶稣就打发两个门徒，2对他们说：“你们往对面村子里去，一进去的时候，必看见一匹驴驹拴在那里，是从来没有人骑过的，可以解开牵来。3若有人对你们说：‘为什么作这事？’你们就说：‘主要用它。’那人必立时让你们牵来。”4他们去了，便看见一匹驴驹拴在门外街道上，就把它解开。5在那里站着的人，有几个说：“你们解驴驹作什么？”6门徒照着耶稣所说的回答，那些人就任凭他们牵去了。
耶稣并没有计划偷偷的溜进耶路撒冷。他选择在在众人欢呼的队伍中从橄榄山上下来，进入耶路撒冷，向以色列百姓表明，他就是神应许的那位弥赛亚。任何了解旧约的以色列人看到这个场景，都会想起撒迦利亚书9:9-10的预言，说他们的王会骑着驴，就是驴的驹子来到他们那里。我们仍然感到惊奇，几百年前的预言竟然如此精确的实现了。没有人应该怀疑耶稣就是圣经所说的那位君王。他是神的儿子。他是万王之王。他是救主和弥赛亚。
就连耶稣选择骑行的工具也很重要。他不是像一个争战凯旋归来的英雄那样，乘坐战车而来的。他像仆人一样骑着牲口到来。这头从未被骑过的驴认识这位坐在它背上的造物主。尽管人们在喊叫，拿着他们的衣服在他面前挥舞着，但是当他骑着驴从橄榄山沿着陡峭的道路下来时，耶稣没有动摇，也没有逃避。我曾在下雨天走过那条路，尽管是一条铺好的路，但你必须非常小心。当你下山时，你将会俯瞰整个耶路撒冷的景色，令人惊叹。当我从山上走下来的时候，我不禁在想，当耶稣骑着驴进入耶路撒冷的时候，他可能在想什么呢？
我觉得他在路上想的不是他自己，而是你和我，以及他来要拯救的所有人。他知道摆在他面前的是什么。他没有转身离开。他知道，那天欢迎他的人群中，很多人在几天后将会要求犹太的领袖把他钉十字架。他知道没有人能做上帝派他去做的事，为世人的罪受苦和死去。有时一幅画胜过千言万语，耶稣骑着驴进入耶路撒冷的画面就是其中之一。
祷告:主耶稣，我感谢并赞美你，因为你来救我们脱离罪恶。你没有转身离开。你定意遵行你父的旨意，舍命作众人的赎价。愿赞美、荣耀、尊贵永远归与你!阿们。
Mark 11:1-6: As they all approached Jerusalem, they came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives. Jesus sent out two of his disciples. 2 He said to them, “Go to the village ahead of you. Just as you enter it, you will find a donkey’s colt tied there. No one has ever ridden it. Untie it and bring it here. 3 Someone may ask you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ If so, say, ‘The Lord needs it. But he will send it back here soon.’ ” 4 So they left. They found a colt out in the street. It was tied at a doorway. They untied it. 5 Some people standing there asked, “What are you doing? Why are you untying that colt?” 6 They answered as Jesus had told them to. So the people let them go. (NIV)
Jesus did not plan to sneak into Jerusalem. He chose to come in a parade down the Mount of Olives to reveal himself to the people of Israel as the Messiah that God promised. Any Israelite who knew the Old Testament would recognize the prophecy from Zechariah 9:9-10, saying that their King would come to them riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. We still marvel at how precisely prophecies made hundreds of years earlier were fulfilled. No one should doubt that Jesus is what the Bible says about him. He is the Son of God. He is the King of kings. He is the Savior and the Messiah.
Even his choice of a ride is significant. He didn’t come on a chariot as a conquering hero. He came as a servant on a beast of burden. This donkey that had never been ridden knew his Creator who sat on his back. Though people were shouting and coats were waving in his face, he did not falter or bolt as he rode down that steep road from the top of the Mount of Olives. I’ve walked down that road on a rainy day, and you have to be very careful, even though it is paved. Before you is a breath-taking view of the city of Jerusalem as you come down the mountain. As I walked down that mountain, I could not help but meditate on what Jesus might have been thinking as he made that ride into the city.
I don’t think he was thinking so much about himself on that ride, but about you and me and all that he came to save. He knew what lay before him. He did not turn around. He knew the crowds that acclaimed him that day would give the leaders of Jews all the more reason to crucify him. He knew that no one else could do what God sent him to do, to suffer and die for the sins of the world. Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words, and the picture of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey is one of them.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, I thank and praise you that you came to save us from our sins. You did not turn aside. You were determined to do the will of your Father and to give your life a ransom of all. To you be praise and glory and honor forever! Amen.
