28“你们可以从无花果树学个比方：当树枝发嫩长叶的时候，你们就知道夏天近了。29这样，你们几时看见这些事成就，也该知道人子近了（“人子”或作“ 神的国”），正在门口了。30我实在告诉你们：这世代还没有过去，这些事都要成就。31天地要废去，我的话却不能废去。”
有时后，预言会向我们揭示一些事情，但同时也会向我们隐藏一些事。耶稣第二次降临的时间也是如此。耶稣所作的这些预言提醒我们他快来了。同时，这些预言也让我们无法确切知道他究竟什么时候再来。我们从这些经文里学到了什么?记住，耶稣预言了两件事——第一件事是公元70年耶路撒冷的毁灭，这是神对那些拒绝耶稣的犹太人的审判；第二件事是世界末日，是神对全人类的审判。就像你可以通过树木变化的迹象，从而看到季节的变化，耶稣也邀请我们通过看到这些预言实现的迹象，从而看到末日的来临。耶路撒冷毁灭的时候，对于很多与耶稣同时代的人来说，确实“这世代还没有过去”。耶稣通过这个预言警告了那些在去往各各他山的路上为他哭泣的妇女，耶路撒冷将要遭遇的事。
有些人把“这世代”解释为信徒。有时，希腊语中的“世代”一词可以指特定的一群人，而不是特定时间内的人。如果“这世代”指的是信徒这个群体，这句经文的意思是，只要世界存在，就会有相信耶稣的人。为什么?因为天地要废去，但耶稣的话永不废去。只要有福音被传讲，总会有信徒在等待他的到来。
这是给我们基督徒的安慰：无论我的世界发生什么事，耶稣的话永远不会废去!

Mark 13:28-31: “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door. 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (NIV)
Sometimes prophecies are cryptic and conceal as much as they reveal. It’s the same way with the timing of Jesus’ second coming. These prophecies which Jesus makes reminds us that he is coming soon. At the same time, they keep us in the dark as to exactly when he is going to return. What do we learn from these words? Remember that he is speaking of two events—the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 A. D., his judgment on those who rejected Jesus; and the end of the world, his judgment of all mankind. Just as you can see the signs in the trees of the changing of the seasons, so he invites us to read the signs for these prophecies to come true. It was true that “this generation will not pass away” before the first of these two prophecies are fulfilled. Jesus warned the women who wept for him on the Via Dolorosa about what would happen to Jerusalem.
Some interpret “this generation” to refer to believers. Sometimes the Greek word for “generation” can mean a particular group of people rather than those of a particular age. The meaning then would be that as long as the world stands, there will always be those who believe in Jesus. Why? Because heaven and earth will pass away, but Jesus’ words will never pass away. As long as the gospel is preached, there will always be believers who are waiting for his coming.
Prayer: Even so, come, Lord Jesus! But while we wait patiently for you to come again, sustain our faith with your powerful Word. And we pray that you would give your Word free course throughout the world so that even more will be saved. Amen.
