•53他们把耶稣带到大祭司那里，又有众祭司长和长老并文士都来和大祭司一同聚集。54彼得远远地跟着耶稣，一直进入大祭司的院里，和差役一同坐在火光里烤火。
那天晚上耶稣警告过彼得，他要三次不认他。彼得和那些大祭司的卫兵呆在一切是不明智的，他们中的一些人可能刚刚参与了再客西马尼园抓捕耶稣的行动。在不确定的时刻，当我们知道我们的信心会受到挑战时，我们最好是与信徒在一起，而不是与不信的人在一起。
当我们在生活中做各项决定时，我们应该仔细考虑这些决定所涉及的一切方面。当你去参加酒会，你觉得自己能不被试探去喝酒吗?如果你上大学，从无神论者教授那里学习，你觉得自己不会被试探吗?如果你和一个不信的人结婚，当你最亲近的人因为你信耶稣而怨恨你时，你觉得这对自己不是一个试探吗?如果你在谷歌或微软这样的公司工作，你是否意识到你的信心会受到多大的试探?你在生活中做决定时，是否考虑过类似的问题呢？
上帝给了我们一个大脑可以去思考，也给了我们新的生命。如果我们不提前看一看，看看撒但最有可能用什么方式引诱我们犯罪，那将是愚蠢的。耶稣教导我们祷告说:“不叫我们遇见试探。”祷告时可以花点时间想想，今天或明天你将面临什么样的试探。在你经历这些试探之前，求耶稣帮助你提前看见它们。通常抵挡试探的最好方法就是一开始就不要让自己陷入那种受试探的境地。
然后求耶稣给你抵挡的力量。有些试探是我们难以避免的。我们不必独自面对这些试探，因为耶稣应许永远与我们同在，直到世界的末了。他的灵总是借着施恩具在我们里面工作，在我们受试探的时候坚固我们。
祷告:主耶稣，求你打开我的眼睛，让我看到撒旦会在哪里试探我。求你教导我，使我珍惜基督徒同伴的陪伴来支持我。赐给我你的灵，使我心里坚固。当我跌倒的时候，求你藉着你的恩典，更新我!阿们。
Mark 14:53-54: They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, the elders and the teachers of the law came together. 54 Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire. (NIV)
Jesus had warned Peter earlier that night that he would deny him three times. It was not smart for Peter to place himself in the company of the guards, some of whom were probably there in the garden to arrest Jesus. In times of uncertainty, when we know that our faith will be challenged, it is best to keep company with fellow believers and not the company of unbelievers.
When we make decisions in our life, we ought to carefully look at everything involved in those decisions. Do you think you can go to a drinking party and not be tempted to drink? If you go to college and learn from professors who are atheists, do you think you will not be tempted? If you marry an unbeliever, do you think that will not be a temptation to you when the person closest to you resents your faith in Jesus? If you work in a place like Google or Microsoft, do you realize how much your faith will be challenged?
God gave us a brain and he gave us a new self. It is foolish for us not to look ahead and see in what ways Satan is most likely to tempt us to sin. Jesus taught us to pray, “Lead us not into temptation.” Take a moment in your prayers to think about the temptations you will face today or tomorrow. Ask Jesus to help you see them before you experience them. Often the best way to fight temptation is not to put yourself into that situation in the first place.
Then ask Jesus to give you the strength to resist. Some temptations may be hard for us to avoid. We do not have to face those temptations on our own, because Jesus promised to be with us always to the end of the age. His Spirit is always working in us through the means of grace to strengthen us for the moment of temptation.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, open my eyes to see where Satan would tempt me. Teach me to treasure the company of believers to support me. Send me your Spirit to strengthen my inner self. And when I fall, then by your grace, restore me! Amen.
