马太福音27:6-10：6祭司长拾起银钱来说：“这是血价，不可放在库里。”7他们商议，就用那银钱买了窑户的一块田，为要埋葬外乡人。8所以那块田、直到今日还叫作血田。9这就应了先知耶利米的话，说：“他们用那三十块钱，就是被估定之人的价钱，是以色列人中所估定的，10买了窑户的一块田；这是照着主所吩咐我的。”
在记录耶稣受难的过程中为什么要加进这一小段呢？它完全无助于故事本身。它也没告诉我们当耶稣在该亚法的地窖里过夜的时候，他做了些什么或他的感受如何。它也没有告诉我们发生这一切的时候其他的门徒在做什么。有两个祭司长参与了耶稣的“审判。”亚拿是原来的大祭司，但他依然很有影响力；而该亚法才是真正负责的大祭司。他们一致同意不能把这个血价放在教会的银库里，所以就用这笔钱买了一块用来埋葬外乡人的田。当马太记录这一切的时候，他们仍然称之为“血田。”
那么马太为什么要记录这一切呢？他告诉了我们缘由。因为它成就了旧约撒迦利亚书11章12-13节的预言。耶稣成就的预言有成百上千条，这些都证实了耶稣的确是救主，基督教信仰是真实的，而不是编造的。这世上没有任何其他宗教记录并成就了这么多预言。读读诗篇22章，你会透过耶稣的眼睛来观看和感受钉十字架的过程。这首诗歌大约写在耶稣被钉十字架1000年前，它描绘了罗马士兵刺透耶稣的手和脚。又过了大约800年，罗马人才发明了十字架作为行刑的手段。
耶稣是真实的吗？他真是我们托付信仰的那一位吗？我记得自己15岁的时候还很怀疑这些。我现在为何确信不疑？是这些预言向我证明了一切。如果有一条预言没被成就，人们就有理由怀疑耶稣。但没有预言未被成就，一条也没有。如果你碰到某个人不相信耶稣，或者说耶稣不过是这个世界上众多宗教领袖中的一个，就给他们看看这些预言吧。
祷告：圣灵，谢谢你感动旧约的作者记录下这些预言，并让新约的作者指出这些预言已经被成就了。也谢谢你让我看到了这些预言。你留下了一连串无法否认的证据，好让我们理性怀疑的心灵明白这些证据。阿们。
Matthew 27:6-10: The chief priests picked up the coins and said, “It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money.” 7 So they decided to use the money to buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners.8 That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9 Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, 10 and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.”
Why record this little snippet from the narrative of Jesus’ Passion? It adds almost nothing to the story itself. It doesn’t tell us about what Jesus was doing or how Jesus felt as he waited in Caiaphas’ dungeon overnight, or what the other disciples were doing while this was happening. There were two chief priests involved with Jesus’ “trial.” Annas was the old high priest, who still carried weight, and Caiaphas was the actual high priest in charge. They agreed that they wouldn’t put the blood money in the church treasury, so they used it to buy a place to bury foreigners. When Matthew wrote these words, they were still calling it the Field of Blood.
So why does Matthew record this? He tells us why. Because it fulfilled a prophecy in the Old Testament from Zechariah 11:12-13. These prophecies that Jesus fulfilled, and there were hundreds of them, are proof that Jesus really is the Savior, and that this Christian faith is real and not made up. No other religion in the world has such a record of prophecies made and fulfilled. Read Psalm 22 and you will see what the crucifixion looked and felt like through the eyes of Jesus. It was written almost a thousand years before Jesus was nailed to the cross, and it says that they pierced his hands and his feet. It would be another 800 years before the Romans invented crucifixion as a means of execution.
Is Jesus real? Is he the one in whom we should put our faith? I remember being skeptical when I was 15. How could I know for sure? The prophecies proved it for me. If one prophecy had not been fulfilled, there would be reason to doubt. But none of them failed. Not one. If you run into someone who doesn’t believe in Jesus, or who says that Jesus is just one of many religious leaders in the world, take them to the prophecies and show them.
Prayer: Thank you, Holy Spirit, for moving the writers of the Old Testament to record the prophecies and for the writers of the New Testament to point out their fulfillment, and for showing me these prophecies. You left a trail of proof that cannot be denied, proof that our reasonable and skeptical minds need to see. Amen.
