马太福音27:54-56：54百夫长和一同看守耶稣的人看见地震并所经历的事，就极其害怕，说：“这真是神的儿子了！”55有好些妇女在那里，远远地观看，他们是从加利利跟随耶稣来服事他的。56内中有抹大拉的马利亚、又有雅各和约西的母亲马利亚、并有西庇太两个儿子的母亲。

甚至那些罗马士兵也在恐惧中承认耶稣是上帝的儿子。马太忠实地记录了这些细节，即，耶稣死亡的时刻发生了什么。人们从死里复活。耶稣的死亡战胜了死亡本身。对我来说，这个细节预先展示了最后的审判日将要发生的事情。

马太还记录了在场妇女的名字。他记录这些名字作为耶稣死亡的见证人，因为她们同样是耶稣复活的见证人。当今天的怀疑论者宣称耶稣的复活从未发生过，或者，耶稣只是晕厥过去，后来在坟墓中醒了过来，他们的论点是基于什么？他们的论点是基于怀疑和不信，除此以外没有其他。这些妇女见证了耶稣的死亡，也见证了他的复活。

为什么要提到妇女？在那个时代妇女并不被认为是可靠的证人。如果马太是在编故事，他可能不会在叙述中提到妇女作为证人。那么为什么要提到妇女？因为她们确实在场。因为实际情况就是这样发生的。耶稣的死亡和复活是真实的。我们的信仰基于一件真实的奇事，而不是杜撰。耶稣死了，耶稣又复活了。当他再来的时候，我们也会复活！

祷告：主耶稣，你为我们留下了有关你死亡和复活的忠实记录。你的敌人今天还在试图否认这点，这是多么可悲啊。让你死亡和复活的真理传遍地极！我这样祷告是奉靠你的名。阿们。

Matthew 27: 54-56: 54 When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, “Surely he was the Son of God!” 55 Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. 56 Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of Zebedee’s sons.

Even the Roman soldiers confessed in fear that Jesus was the Son of God!  Matthew gives us these details as a faithful record of what happened the moment of Jesus ‘ death. People rose from the dead. By his death Jesus defeated death itself.  To me this detail is like a preview of what will happen on the last day.

Matthew also names the women who were there.  He names them as witnesses of his death because they would be witnesses of his resurrection also.  When skeptics today claim that the resurrection never happened, or that Jesus only swooned and came to again in the grave, what do they base their opinion on? They base it on their skepticism and unbelief and nothing more.  There were witnesses who saw Jesus die and who saw him alive again. 

And why mention the women?  In that time women were not considered reliable witnesses. If Matthew was making this story up, he would not have put women in the story as his witnesses. So why mention the women? Because they were really there.  Because this is how it happened.  Jesus’ death and resurrection are real. Our faith is based on a real eccentric and not on fiction.  Jesus died. Jesus rose.  And so will we when he comes again!

Pray:  Lord Jesus, you have given us a faithful record of your death and resurrection.  How sad when your enemies today still try to deny it!  Let the truth of your death and resurrection be proclaimed throughout the whole world!  I ask this in your name. Amen.
