马太福音27:57-61：57到了晚上，有一个财主，名叫约瑟，是亚利马太来的，他也是耶稣的门徒。58这人去见彼拉多，求耶稣的身体，彼拉多就吩咐给他。59约瑟取了身体，用干净细麻布裹好，60安放在自己的新坟墓里，就是他凿在磐石里的。他又把大石头滚到墓门口，就去了。61有抹大拉的马利亚和那个马利亚在那里，对着坟墓坐着。
如果没有约瑟耶稣的身体会怎样？我们根本不必妄意揣测这个问题。以赛亚书第53章告诉我们弥赛亚死的时候会与财主同葬。经文必须要成就。耶稣必须被埋葬。与此同时，这些忠实的普通人都见证了耶稣真实的死亡和埋葬。
总有一天，我们都会站在我们所爱的人的坟墓前。总有一天，我们也将面对自己的坟墓。也许你会为自己买一块墓地，也许你会托付一个像约瑟这样的人来为你照料这件事情。但你不必害怕坟墓。藉着自己躺在坟墓里，耶稣使那些圣徒的坟墓成圣。当耶稣再来的时候，没有石头能将你隔绝在坟墓里。像耶稣一样，你根本不必拥有自己的坟墓。你只是暂时借用一下。
祷告：主耶稣，没有坟墓能困住你。死亡也没能打败你。让我每天都记住我在世间的生命并不是我的尽头，如此我可以为你而活，而不是为自己而活。因为你活着，所以我也与你一同活着，直到永远！阿们。
Matthew 27: 57-61: As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58 Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus’ body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59 Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61 Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
What would have happened to Jesus’ body if it hadn’t been for Joseph? We really don’t have to speculate on that question. Isaiah 53 tells us that the Messiah would make his grave with the rich in his death. Scripture had to be fulfilled. Jesus had to be buried. At the same time, these ordinary, faithful people of God stood as witnesses to the real death and burial of Jesus.
Someday we will all stand over the graves of loved ones. Someday we will face our own grave. Maybe you will purchase a burial plot for yourself and maybe you will have someone like Joseph take care of that for you. But you do not have to be afraid of the grave. Jesus sanctified the graves of the saints by lying in his grave. No stone can keep you in that grave when Jesus comes again. Like Jesus you don’t have to own your grave. You are only borrowing it for a while.
Pray: Lord Jesus, no grave could hold you. Death did not defeat you. Remind me daily that my life here is not the end of me so that I can live my life for you and not for myself. Because you live, I will live with you eternally! Amen.
