希伯来书：11:20-21：20以撒因着信，就指着将来的事给雅各、以扫祝福。21雅各因着信，临死的时候，给约瑟的两个儿子各自祝福，扶着杖头敬拜神。
我父亲做心脏手术的时候，手术之前我在医院陪着他。他非常焦虑和担心。起初我感到困惑不解，因为他之前拔牙的时候不用麻醉剂都不害怕，但是这次手术似乎却对他产生了一些奇怪的影响。后来我终于明白了。他害怕如果自己手术后活不了，谁会来照顾妈妈？所以我对他说：“爸爸我知道你担心什么。你担心如果你不在了，谁来照顾妈妈？但是上帝照顾你和妈妈一辈子了。你该相信，即使你不在了，上帝会照顾她。”他长出了一口气，因为他知道即使自己走了也完全可以信靠上帝。
雅各和以撒面临同样的境遇。以撒的两个儿子将来会发生什么？雅各的12个儿子会怎样？雅各的孙子，即，约瑟的儿子又会怎样？而约瑟的临终嘱托有更深的含义。400年后当以色列人离开埃及的时候他的要求将会被纪念。他提醒世世代代的同胞：埃及不是他们的家。上帝将迦南美地赐给了他们，上帝会遵守他的应许，总有一天会将他们带回那里。
当我们年老力衰，我们常常担心我们走后会发生什么事情。但是这种担心其实是非常愚蠢的，不是吗？我们认为这个世界不能没有我们，但是谁在我们尚在母亲的怀中就开始一路祝福我们了？是我们的天父上帝。他照顾我们，供应我们的需求，并带我们回天家。当你的心思意念中充满这样的忧虑，你应该想想奇妙而伟大的上帝，他从来没有让你失望，也从来没有让你爱的人失望。义人因信得生，并将自己的未来交托到上帝的手中。
祷告：天父，我承认我经常让我的心为生活中的愁烦感到焦虑。当我向前看的时候，我看到的是一个不确定的未来，但这只是我的想法。你已经为我规划好一切，无论是活着还是死后。请提醒我：凭着信心而活，并将我的未来交托在你的手中。阿们。
Hebrews 11: 20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future. 21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.
When my father had his heart surgery, I was with him in the hospital before the surgery. He was so anxious and worried. It puzzled me at first, because this man wasn’t afraid to have a tooth removed without novocaine, because it affected him in a strange way. Then it dawned on me. He was afraid he might not survive the surgery, and then who would take care of mom? So I said to him, “Dad, I know why your worried. Your worried about who will take care of mom if you’re not here. But God has taken care of you and her all your lives. You can trust God to take care of her even if you aren’t here to do it.” Then he sighed a big sigh relief because he knew that he could trust God even after he was gone.
Jacob and Isaac could do the same. What lay in the future for Isaac’s two sons? For Jacob’s twelve sons? And his grandsons, the sons of Joseph? We like to worry in our old age about what will happen when we are gone, but our worrying is really foolish, isn’t it? We think that the world cannot do without us, but who was it who “from our mother’s arms, has blessed us on our way?” It was our heavenly Father, who cares for us and provides for us and brings us home to heaven. When you have such worries in our heart and mind, then think of your great and wonderful God, who has never failed you, and who will not fail those whom you love, either. The righteous can live by faith and put their future in God’s hands. Prayer: Father, I confess that too often I let life’s worries trouble my heart. I look ahead and see an uncertain future, but it is only uncertain in my own mind. You have already planned what will happen while a live and when I am gone. Remind me to live by faith and put my future into your hands. Amen.
