•33从午正到申初,遍地都黑暗了。34申初的时候,耶稣大声喊着说:“以罗伊,以罗伊!拉马撒巴各大尼?”(翻出来就是:我的 神,我的 神,为什么离弃我?)35旁边站着的人,有的听见就说:“看哪,他叫以利亚呢!”36有一个人跑去,把海绒蘸满了醋,绑在苇子上,送给他喝,说:“且等着,看以利亚来不来把他取下。”
“我的 神,我的 神,为什么离弃我?”这句话是在耶稣受难的最后时刻从十字架上说出来的。马丁·路德曾经研究过耶稣的这一深刻的呼喊。他独自学习了很长时间,不吃东西,沉思默想。最后,他从椅子上站了起来,惊奇地喊道:“上帝离弃了上帝;谁能理解呢?”
对于耶稣说的这句话所表现的恐怖和痛苦,曾有人说,“不是钉在他手上和脚上的钉子,也不是戴在他额头上的荆棘冠冕,也不是他背上的鞭痕,更不是他所忍受的疲乏和昏厥,导致了主的死亡。不仅仅是十字架上肉体的痛苦,也不仅仅是钉在他神圣的手和脚上的钉子的剧痛,尽管它是最剧烈的。耶稣受难的主要部分,并不是被钉在十字架上六个小时。”
“而是几乎无法忍受的罪的重担——无数人的罪,是神的忿怒倾倒在他圣洁的灵魂里,是他的父的面隐藏起来,他陷入地狱的痛苦中;当我们卑贱、可怕的罪归在救主身上时,我们受苦的救主喝了神愤怒的杯,一直喝完最后的渣滓”。然而,耶和华却喜悦将他压伤,使他受痛苦,耶和华以他为赎罪祭。(以赛亚书53:10)
耶稣的这句话值得我们花费更多时间去默想,让这些话在我们心里燃烧,让我们看到我们的罪已经被赦免了,“不是部分,而是所有”。
祷告:主耶稣,当我对罪轻看的时候,或者当我认为罪已经压倒我的时候,求你让我想起你在十字架上所说的话,并因知道你的恩典已经遮盖了我许多的罪而得安慰。阿们。
Mark 15:33-36: At noon, darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. 34 And at three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”). 35 When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.” 36 Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said. (NIV)
This word from the cross was spoken in the last hour of Jesus’ suffering. Martin Luther actually set out to study this profound cry of Jesus. He studied for a long time, in solitude, without food, and in deep meditation. At last he rose from his chair and was heard to exclaim in amazement, “God forsaken of God; who can understand that?”
J.C. Philpot (1802-1869) has this to say on these words from the cross. “It was not the nails driven through His hands and feet—it was not the crown of thorns placed upon His brow—it was not the stripes which mangled His back—it was not the languor and faintness under which He suffered—that caused the Lord to die. It was not the mere bodily agony of the cross—it was not the mere pain, though most acute and severe, of the nails driven through His sacred hands and feet. It was not the being stretched upon the cross for six hours that constituted the chief part of the Redeemer’s suffering.
“But it was the almost intolerable load of imputed sin—the imputed sins of millions—it was the tremendous pouring of the wrath of God into His holy soul—it was the hiding of His Father’s face, and the very pangs of hell that there caught hold of Him! Our suffering Savior drank the cup of the wrath of God to the very dregs—when our vile, dreadful, and horrible sins were laid upon Him! “Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief: when You shall make His soul an offering for sin” Isaiah 53:10.
These words of Jesus are worth more than three minutes of meditation, or three hours, or even three days. Let them be burned into our hearts so that we can see that our sins have been atoned for, “not in part, but the whole.”
Prayer: Lord Jesus, when I would think of sin but lightly, or when I think that sin has overwhelmed me, then let me think of these words you spoke from the cross and be comforted in knowing that your grace has covered the multitude of my sins. Amen.
